Larry Baer’s Commitment To The San Francisco Giants And Major League Baseball

Larry Baer is one of the most innovative figures in major league baseball. Larry Baer became the Giants’ marketing director after graduating from UC Berkeley, in 1980. Currently he is the Chief Executive Officer of San Francisco Giants. He departed the Giants in 1983 to enroll at Harvard Business School.

The SF Giants CEO began his career in the media sector after graduating from Harvard, working for Westinghouse Broadcasting in San Francisco. After that, he relocated to New York and began working for CBS, Inc. as a special assistant to Laurence Tisch, the network’s Chairman, and CEO, before returning to Major League Baseball. In 1992, Baer rejoined the Giants after finalizing the franchise’s purchase with Magowan.

The Giants earned their second World Series title in three years during Baer’s first year as the SF Giants CEO. When they won their third World Series victory in 2014, the team’s winning run was extended. Baer has collaborated closely with the Giants Baseball organization on intelligent signings that have kept several important players in Giants uniforms for the foreseeable future.

He also advised on the construction of Oracle Park, which many people consider to be one of the “greatest ballparks ever constructed.” Since its inception in 2000, the park has received widespread praise, including being named the Year’s Best Sports Facility by Sports Business Journal in 2008.

Baer is in charge of the company’s most important day-to-day operations and serves as the league’s “control” person on all Players, Professional Baseball, and business matters as president and Giants CEO.

Larry Baer has chaired the Strategic Planning Committee, the Business and Media Board, and the International Committee, among other bodies in Major League Baseball. Numerous honors and accolades have also been bestowed upon him.

In response to the opening of the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center in 2016, he and his wife, Pam, co-organized and established a fundraising committee. Click here to learn more.
