Wes Edens Invests in Football

Wes Edens is an American businessman and an investor who owns two investments groups such as the Fortress Investment Group and New Fortress Energy. Wes is also the owner of FlyQuest and a shareholder of Aston Villa football club. In July 2018, Wes Edens has announced the chairman of the English football club, Aston Villa. Dwight Yorke referred to Wes Edens as a person who has a great vision for Aston Villa and really wanted to get Aston Villa to the Champions League. During this time Dwight Yorke was fighting to replace John Terry as an assistant head coach of Dean Smith and so he had to talk to both Wes Edens and Deansmith.

In August 2019, Wes Edens and Sawiris became the owners of Aston Villa after a period of the great success of the football club after purchasing the remaining shares of Xia. The football club, Aston Villa, was promoted back to the premier league. The success was due to the changes made within the management of the club. For instance, there were fresh appointments such as signing Anwar as a winger, the appointment of Dean Smith as manager, Purslow as the Chief Executive, and bringing in Garcia Pitarch as the sporting director.
